Euro-MP chairs first session of the "e-accessibility" conference in London11.07.17am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 21st Oct 2005 Liz Lynne MEP today chaired the first session of the e-accessibility conference welcoming European Commissioner Vladimir Spidla and Alun Michael MP, the Minister for State, Industry and the regions. The conference aims to ensure EU and UK policy makers, business leaders and industry make their products more accessible to disabled and older people. E-accessibility refers to easy access for all members of society relating to electronic information and communications, including the internet, television and telecommunications. Liz Lynne MEP, who is Vice-President for the European Parliament All Party Disability Intergroup, said in London, "I am pleased to see key leaders of the European Union and the UK Government at today's conference on e-accessibility. This is an important issue that I have been campaigning for, and I am happy to see policy makers taking an interest. "I think business and industry also have a responsibility to increase accessibility in the workplace and on the high street. We must remember that accessibility includes the internet, television and telecommunications. The internet has become an integral part of our world, and it is vital that every member of our society be able to access it." ENDS.
